Select the EDIT menu, then select PREFERENCES.

Click the + to expand the Mail & Newsgroups menu.

Select IDENTITY from the list.

Under
YOUR NAME, it will ask for a display name. Normally your mail has these
headers:
to:
bob@aol.com
from: joe@xyz.com
Choosing a display name of "Robert G. Davis" will result in
these headers on your outgoing mail:
to: bob@aol.com
from: Joe Doe <joe@xyz.com>

If you use a different e-mail address for replies, enter that in the “REPLY-TO-ADDRESS” box.

Select the MAIL SERVERS menu item.

In the Outgoing Mail
(SMTP) Server field enter: mail.xyz.com

In the Outgoing mail server user name field, enter your e-mail name.

If mail.xyz.com is not shown under Incoming Mail Servers in the upper right window, click EDIT to change the default mail entry, or if no entry appears, click ADD.

The Mail Server Properties window will appear.

Select the GENERAL tab.

The Server Name should read:
mail.xyz.com. Edit this entry if necessary.

The Server Type should be POP3 Server (which is selected using the drop down list box by clicking on the down arrow).

Enter your e-mail name (username) in the User Name field.

You may optionally click the checkbox to specify Remember password.

Click OK when done.

Click OK again in the PREFERENCES dialog box to save all the
changes.
