Our Microsoft Outlook 98 tutorial shows how to setup Outlook 98 to retrieve email from your Pebblehaven accounts.

  1. Open Microsoft Outlook 98 and choose "Tools" from the menu bar.

  2. Choose "Accounts" and click on the mail tab when the "Internet Accounts" manager window appears.

  3. Click on the "Add" button and then on "Mail". The Internet Connection Wizard will walk you through the setup process.

  4. First, it will ask for a display name. Normally your mail has these headers:
    to: bob@aol.com
    from: joe@xyz.com
Choosing a display name of "Robert G. Davis" will result in these headers on your outgoing mail:
    to: bob@aol.com
    from: Joe Doe <joe@xyz.com>

  5. Next, the wizard asks for your email address that you want people to reply to. Typing joe@xyz.com here would result in the above headers on your outgoing mail.

  6. Next you are asked for your server information. Your incoming mail server is a POP3 and its name is your domain name (e.g. xyz.com).  Your outgoing mail server is yourdomain.com (e.g. xyz.com)

  7. Next is your account name on our system.  Then enter your password.

  8. Next, it will ask for an account name that Outlook 98 will use to refer to this particular account, you can choose whatever you want but we recommend something like "My Pebblehaven account" or "My Domain Email".

  9. If you log onto your ISP and then check your mail, choose "I will establish connection manually". If you want Outlook 98 to dial into your ISP for you, then choose "Connect using my phone line". If you choose the latter, you will need to contact your ISP for instructions on configuring your dialer.

  10. Click on "Finish" and then on "Close".

  11. Now to retrieve your mail, in the Outlook 98 window, choose "Tools" from the menubar.

  12. Then select "Send and Receive".

Some releases of Outlook '98 contain an error that prevents you from sending out email. If you experience this problem, please click here to contact us.
